Twenty minutes from our door sits one of the best palaeontology museums in the country — and one of the Peace Region's proudest stories.
Why it matters
The museum is built around the Pipestone Creek bonebed, among the densest dinosaur bonebeds ever found, packed with Pachyrhinosaurus lakustai — a horned dinosaur first identified right here and named for the local teacher who discovered the site. The building itself, all glulam timber and glass, is worth the drive alone.
Visiting tips
Budget two to three hours for the galleries and fossil lab viewing. Family programs and day camps run seasonally, so check the museum's official website for current hours, admission and events before you go. Pair the trip with Beaverlodge's giant beaver statue for the classic Peace Country photo stop.
